The architecture of a library frames the sequence of static scenes that make up this video, creating a physical depiction of a film strip. In these 'tableaux vivants' or 'living pictures', performers take up absurd positions in corners, under tables and on shelves. Like library ghosts, they become as still and silent as the space they occupy. However, as these bodies are deadened into statues, they also bring life to the library as they playfully inhabit and reclaim it. In this way the piece explores the historicity and ideology of the building, referencing Borgean ideas of an infinite and cyclical Library as a metaphor for life.
