‘Yes, that’s exactly what they’ve been waiting for in this country – you with your sewing kit.’
Invisible is a funny, moving and topical portrayal of the world in flux.
Lara left home convinced that hard work would find her a better life. Anton finds himself suspended sixteen floors up, cleaning windows. Malik dreams of a country where women apparently walk round half-naked while Felix, despite a pretty wife and a lucrative future, just finds it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. Amid the world of visas and wind turbines, commuter flights and nightclubs, fairy tales and tabloid press, a chance meeting drives disparate lives towards a chilling point of no return.
Invisible is about journeys and the convergence of different people and cultures. It is also a funny, moving and topical portrayal of the world in flux and a clear-eyed exploration of the many sides of migration.
Written by Croatia's leading playwright Tena Štivičić, directed by Douglas Rintoul (Barbican, Complicite) and choreographed by Darren Johnston (Laban Award for Outstanding Choreographic Achievement) Invisible explores the many sides of migration, a state known to man for over 80,000 years.
Invisible follows TRANSPORT’s acclaimed productions of Europe at The Barbican, London and Elegy at the Edinburgh Festival.
