The 3D Theremin is the project in progress initiated by Andrey Smirnov in 2005 during experiments with his digital theremin sensors based on the same principle as a well known electronic musical instrument the theremin. Unlike any analog theremins the multichannel digital sensors have no need in continuous maintaining and tuning, permitting the performer to obtain the spatial control over sound by means of the special 3D antennae.
