Part man, part . . . angler fish . . . thing . . . I dunno. It made sense at the time. Standing at the shore at night, he shines the lantern he holds with the arm jutting from his head and confuses passing ships, causing them to run aground on the rocks. It's not much of a life, but it's a living.
