Starting on October 29, 2011 a historic snowstorm dumped heavy, wet snow across the Northeast over the weekend. Leaf-covered trees snapped under the weight of several inches of wet snow, they also uprooted from a water laden soil. Power outages were extensive and crippling.
Power was knocked out for more than 2.3 million customers from Maryland to Maine, according to the Associated Press.
States of emergency have been declared in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and parts of New York state:
Schools have been closed until Nov 4 in our district.
Some homes are still without power or communication means (phone and internet) as of today Nov 4, 2011. Ours was just restored.
