My Life & Slow Motion
The physical movements I am performing in this video are known as 'Tricks'. The most basic definition of 'Tricking' is a combination of martial arts and gymnastics. It is an art-form that I attempt to practice daily. Trees are also encountered daily.
Rather than blatantly slowing down videos of tricks, I wanted to use another method to convey slow motion. I thought of contrasting the fast rapid movements of tricking with the slow and graceful movements of autumn leaves. The majority of the leaves in the video are still airborn long after I have landed a trick to emphasize the differences in speed.
The leaves also serve as a way to highlight energy and movement, with the most energy concentrated close to my body, and radiating outward. The leaves react accordingly (almost like a residue or energy trail), and disperse as they move away from my body, as if to showcase the unseen energy that is generated from a flip or trick.
