The content is from "Qanuqtuurniq – Finding the Balance," a live, three-part, phone-in TV series prepared by Inuit Tuttarvingat of the National Aboriginal Health Organization involving a number of partners.
First you will see research excerpts from the men’s show, “Angutiilli qanuiliqpat? How are we as men?,” involving the Qanuippitali? Inuit Health Survey, Type 2 diabetes prevalence, abuse prevention and research questions from the show’s Cambridge Bay community focus group.
Research themes from the Inuit maternity care show, “Nutaraqtaarniq Nunalingnirmiunut Alianaippuq! – Birth, a joyous community event!,” include Inuit cultural and traditional knowledge, a fetal fibronectin study, the Qanuippitali? Inuit Health Survey and information on the Irnisuksiiniq – Inuit Midwifery Network that shares research and other information with stakeholders in Inuit maternity care.
Research content from the Inuit youth show on coping and resilience, “ Makkuktuuvunga, upimmavunga – I am young, and I am proud,” include the Inuit Health Survey, information that youth want to know more about, engaging youth in research on youth, and the importance of mentoring youth.
The series, originally broadcast from Iqaluit, Nunavut in May 2009, was aired in Canada and Alaska along with live web streaming.
