Really fun piece with well integrated effects and a great sense of humour. Personally the opening sequence lacked pace, but this soon resolves itself.

Very fantastic story, and well executed! But, as a filmmaker AND a parent, I would have much preferred a less morbid climax. My 7-year-old daughter loves fairies, but, unfortunately, there's no way I'd suggest she watch this. You may have overshot your prime audience. Is there, perhaps, an alternate cut with water pistols?
  • Jason Wingrove plus 3 months ago
Hey adam I'm a parent too but the prime audience was never intended to be kids really. well it started that way.. then the director did a rewrite :-)

  • Dan Chung plus 3 months ago
Lovely - are those fairies related to the little men inside my camera that make it work?
  • Jason Wingrove plus 3 months ago
perhaps related to the big fairy that works your camera
  • Dan Chung plus 3 months ago
The big fairy that works my camera can't be related, not that pretty
  •
  • Steven Bray 3 months ago
Great work but I agree with a comment further up; it's not really a kids film that relates to how kids think. It's a an adult version through and through.

I remember joining my nephew to play with plastic dinosaurs, I was all "Roar! Gonna eat you!" but he asked me, very nicely, if they could be friends instead, and that was dinosaurs, not fairies.

Im sorry to bother with technical questions, but could you also say what kind of lenses did you use, and maybe a little bit about the color correction?
thank you very much in advance.
  • Jason Wingrove plus 3 months ago
Anamorphic lenses, Panavision modified Cooke S3's which were 'okay' Colour was all graded on resolve by Andy Clarkson. We wanted to give each 'act' a slightly different look. some seem to like it some not.

Some of the Grade, Exposure, sharpness and over all constancy where jarringly off from shot to shot, esp the beginning staircase scene seem to have the primary over took any secondary color, But over all a very enjoyable short :D

Yeah me too big fan, really wanna know how you did that mirror shot my fav part of film. People who are moaning about it not being PC for their kids maybe need to realise that they don't have to show it to their kids, or that too hard to comprehend, plus it's fiction, who cares where she got the flamethrower form?
  • Jason Wingrove plus 3 months ago
Mirror shot is done exactly how it looks. Mirror on a box reflecting the doorway, she walks, someone walks away with the mirror :-) damn fiddly to setup but all in camera :-)
