Spent a day with the Phantom, creating opening credits for Nik Perleros' "How To Get Laid". Only parts of the shots were used, so I decided to do a little edit to show off more of what we shot.

Most of the shots were around 5000fps, some of the martini shots were at 8900fps.

Music by The Beastie Boys, "Here's a Little Something for Ya"

Great shots! that spinning ice cube was sweet! How did you explode the glasses.
  • Nik Perleros plus 3 months ago
Our intention was to use squibs, so we tried that on a few setups. (You can see the squib wires in the wide martini shot, where the stem breaks.) However, the glasses were resistant to the squibs, and would simply snap or crack. Though the squibs did give us some cool smoke effects. Luckily we brought along an air rifle. That provided the dramatic explosions we needed.

Nice, I was thinking more along the lines of alcohol violence. Interesting take on alcohol use/abuse! Also, great music choice

  • Ty Migota plus 3 months ago

  • okay, what is the name of that song, and who performs it? I feel like I should know it, but I'm grasping at straws here. that said--AWESOME video. very, very cool. what were those bright multicolored dots at the 1:43 mark? I was particularly entranced by that shot. @_@
  • Nik Perleros plus 2 months ago
The song is "The Lisa Lisa/Full Force Routine" by Beastie Boys. The dots are little pieces of hot metal. We used a grinder on a piece of rebar to get those sparks. (My favorite is when you catch a spark explode into smaller ones.) Thanks for watching!

Right album, wrong track. "LL/FFR" is under a minute long; the track you use here is "Here's a Little Something for Ya," also from "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2."
    Awesome filmage, btw.

  • Ty Migota plus 2 months ago
I had my AC grinding a piece of Rebar above the table.
  • Indrajeet Sisodiya 2 months ago
I am so sorry, I have no idea what that is...googling it helps me guess some sort of metal cutting machine right?
And those are sparks and tiny metal filaments falling down?
  • Ty Migota plus 2 months ago
    yep, that's basically it. :)
