During the research for my diploma thesis I also experimented with memory wire and textiles. The first part of the video is about different ways of stitching memory wire into fabric. The second part is about the the trial of making a straight 0,2mm Nitinol wire remembering a spiral shape. Therefore the wire was curled up on a screw and then heated at 500°C for 30 minutes. After that the wire was thrown into cold water. Finally you can watch the result. The fabric is moving. It works!!!
