Founded in 2004, the Scottish Documentary Institute (SDI) is an internationally recognised documentary research centre based at Edinburgh College of Art which specialises in documentary training, production and distribution.

The organisation's aim is to stimulate and inspire the documentary scene in Scotland and beyond through focus on creative excellence and clear international outlook.

Through programmes such as Bridging the Gap, Interdocs and Edinburgh Pitch, SDI has ensured that Scottish-made films are screened around the world.
