Bruce Standish is not your average fruiterer. He’s a trained nutritionist, a firm believer in ‘healthful living’, and at 69 years old has been a vegan since before we had a name for them.
His tiny little shop in Elwood is overflowing with organic, chemical-free produce as he believes everyone should become vegetarian for the sake of the planet.
He works from dawn to dusk six days a week, and does his own deliveries, but has been known to employ the odd hippy to help him out in the shop.
