That's a demonstration video for a script that I wrote. You can create a tentacle procedural motion. Select the parent bone, click the tentacles' script icon and have fun.

Script's page: sinok.gr/04tentacles/tentacles.html

    nice 1!
it would be nice to have a spring variable on it, to have wiggle without keying frames like crazy.....uh..and collision detection for 1 parent bone with multiple tentacles...i wish...common, how hard can it be? kiddin'..great job.
  • Nick Moutafis 3 years ago
You can add the spring controller without any problem. As far for the collision part.. It needs a bit of work but it's in my plans for next update. It won't be very soon cause I have some other plans for miscellaneous scripts.

    Thanks for your reply :D

Getting this error when I try to Run the script:
-- Runtime error: Copy error on file: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2010\UI\Icons\sinok.gr_16i.bmp
    Any thoughts?

Do you use Windows Vista or Windows 7? If yes, make sure you have Administrator rights.

  •
  • Hi Nick, the page seams to be down! Any chance to get that script somewhere else? or can you email it to me?

    Thanks in advance,
    Anselm
  • Nick Moutafis 1 month ago
Hey Anselm, sorry for that. Try this link sinok.gr/temp/#scripts. Its a temp version of my site as I'm trying to reconstruct it. (in the latests version of 3ds max I have noticed a small display issue with the spinners. If that's a problem for u send me an email at sinokgr@yahoo.com and I'll try to fix it asap)

    Thanks

How did you create the tentacles? would this be possible with a primitive shape rigged with a bone to it?
  • Nick Moutafis 1 month ago
This is a demo of a script I wrote. I'm not quite sure if I understood what's your question. If you're asking if the script support other primitives linked into parent/child chain then yes. It's not restricted to bones.

    Thanks
