This OpenFrameworks Particle Sound System was a project for the course New Media New Technology where we had to build something cool with OpenFrameworks.
The application uses sound amplitude as a input parameter. If you clap with your hands the entire animation will go berserk but if you play a song near the microphone it will react really beautifully. The final version runs 1.5 million particles with a frame rate of 40fps. This would have never been achieved without the use of the GPU. OpenCL is a library that enables to send computations to the GPU instead of only using a CPU.
