60 seconds of beauty submitted by users to the first round of The Beauty Of A Second short film contest.

** UPDATE **
Good news, moviemakers: Due to the success and massive response The Beauty of a Second has been extended with one extra round! The deadline for submitting one-second videos is now January 20.

Create your own playlist now on the site or upload your second of beauty to participate in the next round now. 20 videos will be shortlisted from each of the three rounds to be judged by Wim Wenders in the grand final.

Montblanc and Leo Burnett Milan pay homage to the chronograph -- which recorded time to the accuracy of a fifth of a second -- with a short film challenge. The Beauty of a Second is a contest curated by Wim Wenders which asks users to demonstrate beauty in a second of film. The winner will meet Wenders and win a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec chronograph.

Come on guys. Don't be taken in. THE MUSIC IS EVERYTHING. This sort of quick editing has been done by advertisers for over 20 years. These are well shot random frames with GREAT MUSIC. Tourist boards from California to the Philippines do EXACTLY THAT. Canada did a great one. These are RANDOM IMAGES. Don't be fooled. The great music you hear is written in 120 beats per minute so each one second clip has four beats. You knew that didn't you? These are random images that your brain refuses to believe are not connected. Therefore with great music your brain makes emotional connections. Actually THERE IS NO CONNECTION. I thought film makers told stories? I guess I was wrong.

Perhaps they are "random" as you put it, but that's part of the fun.

Good point. I watched it the second time without the music and your right, it doesn't have the same emotional impact. I still found the connected images arresting though. Knowing up front what they are going for I think I like the music off better. Of course it has to have the music and it is good music. Though when the second one releases I'm going to watch it with the sound off first.

Dear Mont Blanc,

I am having a serious problem with 'the beauty of a second' voting process. Whenever I share the link to my clip (montblanconesecond.com/#/en/the-seconds?id=3245) on facebook, twitter or by email the recipient cannot vote! This is the same for anyone I share/send the link with directly and the player indicates 'already voted' when clearly the recipient has not yet voted. Is there an email or telephone for the competition technical assistance that I can have please? If I can't get this problem fixed then I will not be able to get any votes and will not progress to the next round which will be a real shame as I think my clip is strong. I would be very grateful for any assistance.

2. Search for your videos by typing in the username you registered under on the site. (Remember to have the right flight selected to find the videos)

Really great project you have, but does take some time to dig deep -- it almost seems that if a film is used in a playlist it should count towards the vote?

That bug is fixed. If "already voted" still appears try to empty the cache on your browser and restart your browser. Then it should work.

Yes, thanks, although I really frustrated a bunch of people who tried to vote -- wish it was simpler. But great idea and fun contest. I wish I could have seen all the films, but usually got bumped off around 45/113 and then had to start all over again.
