Weird is good... seriously... When we think of church the very last thing we want to be is "normal."
"Normal" in our world is a "me first" attitude. "Normal" is judging someone without listening to them first. "Normal" is walking across the Oval with your earphones in and not engaging the people around you. "Normal" is hanging out with people who look, think and act like you instead of being exposed to new ideas. Maybe church has been too normal for too long? We wonder...
At Jacob's Porch, we want church to stay weird. We want to be a place where people encounter something so different and so beautiful that they leave saying, "Wow, that was ... not normal." Because it's not. Where else are people so genuinely concerned about your well-being that they would set aside their time, priorities--even their lives to help you? Where else do people listen --really listen to you? Seriously, where else do we sing in public?
That's weird. That's beautiful. And frankly, we think that's Jesus. So come join us in a radical, counter-cultural movement. Church as usual. Really weird.
