Pennington Education Presents: Barack Obama Academy Student Project 2010 (2)
This video shows the final project of a student from Barack Obama Academy who participated in a Pennington Education Media Literacy Workshop. Derived from a "Being 13" essay, Amarie's project focused on how important music is to being 13, and for her project she wrote a small wrap based on Niki Minaj, one of her favorite wrappers.
The goal of the workshop is to promote media literacy through minimal resource filmmaking. Using techniques such as animation and voice over, each student produced a project that was focused on what is important to them about being 13. Derived from written essays, the students each picked one topic from their paper and made a short video about it, which was then edited together with interviews from the students.
