Jackson Heights' 37th Road used to be overflowing with shoppers. Now, it's little more than a scarcely used pathway.
That is until a city department recommended closing the street to make it pedestrian friendly. What they didn't count on was driving business away. Merchants are 37th Road were briefed only days, some even only a few hours before the closure.
Local businesses were devastated and owners are going to the city to fight back.
