That's really good. I think some more plinky tiny sounding music might go better, not sure what though. Did you use a tilt-shift lens or did you post process the video?
  • gemma bradbury 10 months ago
I think your right about the music, the next will need a little more thought on the music front. I used a zoom lens, then added the tilt-shift in post process.

lovely, lovelyness.. particularly like the pier bits, nice. I am with Steve on the music. Never thought that i would see him type "pllinky tiny" in a comment! From a man who is off to see Judas Priest tomorrow this is a joy to behold:))

This looks great. Gemma, are you using the latest AE CS4 for this? Apparently the lens blur is supposed to be improved whatever that means. For video I think adding in post is better than the TS-E lenses.
  • gemma bradbury 10 months ago
Yes. Im using lightroom 2 for managing them all, and batch color corrections, then after effects cs4 for the composite.

Don't know if the lens blur is better in cs4, but its defiantly quicker to render. And the benefit of doing the lens blur in post is that it lets you pick out the part you want at the end, rather than forcing you to choose when framing up initially.

This LR2 and AE combo is powerful medicine. I've done quite a bit of this effect with LF film in the past, you can see some at paulfreeman.net. Its becoming a bit of a cliche in stills (though unusual in monochrome) but it seems to pack a punch in video, and especially with timelapse. Funny though how timelapse just cries out for music. I wonder where I'm going to get it from, time to call up some musicians.
