On August 13, 2011 in Kendleton, Fort Bend County, Texas, folks celebrated a landmark Supreme Court ruling with the dedication of a historical marker next to the town's post office on Willie Melton Boulevard. The marker commemorates Terry v. Adams, a case that local residents won against the Jaybird Democratic Organization and ended the unlawful exclusion of black residents from the county’s whites-only Democratic party primaries from the period of 1889 through 1953.
This program segment features Christina Minor, granddaughter of Terry v. Adams organizer Arizona Fleming.
