2. Cumberland County Early College
Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton joined faculty members and parents of the new Cumberland International Early College High School for an open house Tuesday, August 2, 2011.

Lt. Gov. Dalton, who authored the legislation establishing North Carolina's early college high schools, championed this new school and helped it receive funding from the General Assembly. The Joining Our Businesses and Schools (JOBS) Commission, which Dalton chairs, recommended the school as a way to help students near Fort Bragg become versed in foreign languages and cultures, which are key in the military and military support industries.
