Barneys New York - The Making of Gaga's Workshop

This holiday season, Barneys New York spectacularly unveiled it’s windows featuring GAGA'S WORKSHOP. A take on Santa's iconic workshop, the project was realized through the eyes of renowned creative talents: Lady Gaga, Nicola Formichetti, and Eli Sudbrack and avaf, in collaboration with Barneys' creative director Dennis Freedman. In true Lady Gaga fashion, GAGA'S WORKSHOP, the holiday destination, was a unique and individual celebration of the universality of gift giving and charity during the holiday season. In honor of this special project, Barneys New York donated 25% of sales from all items featured in GAGA'S WORKSHOP to the Born This Way Foundation, recently founded and announced by Lady Gaga and her mother.

Barneys New York contracted Stellarhead to tell the story of the making of GAGA’S WORKSHOP. We chronicled the build and installation of the workshop with time lapsed video and spoke to the multi-national artists who worked with Barneys and Lady Gaga to create the extraordinary and fantastical elements for the event. Interviews with creatives, and footage of the production and documentation of the various street teams promoting the event throughout New York City, were a prelude to the exciting unveil. Lady Gaga signed off on the GAGA WORKSHOP with a glamorous stroll through the installation prior to cutting the ribbon for the kick-off of holiday festivities. Stellarhead designed a complimentarily branded micro-site for the multi-media content supporting the event for press outlets. The branding and designs for the entire project were as fun as the personality behind them. The whole story told of a legend whose perspective is influencing art and fashion.
