Title:
'The Ideas In And Around What Could Have Been or Could Be' (a performance in 5 parts)*

or

The Need For Self

or

Body As Object

Project Plan:
Titles:
1. the need for self
2. destructive behavior: I get beaten
3. clues to the meaning of life part 6: for David
4. things to do when you can’t sleep
5. all things add up to the sum of all their parts, (5 being one of the numbers to work with in this case) the logical equation, to date is, truth + loss = confusion.

Description of Projects:
1. the need for self: ‘body as object’ I will recreate variations of the four performances from the original project. (note attached document + view video and images of the original performance at dawnkasper.com)

2. destructive behavior: I get beaten: I am beaten in some way, either physically beaten up or competitively say in a game of chess (note Marcel Duchamp)

3. clues to the meaning of life part 6 : for David: this is a monologue I performed as a tribute to a friend that passed away recently. This version will be a more refined version, think Spaulding Grey meets Miranda July.

4. things to do when you cant sleep: I will perform a monologue explaining theories as to why I cant sleep. I will play the piano. I don’t know how to play the piano…yet. I will learn a score to a Buster Keaton film.

5. all things add up to the sum of all their parts, (5 being one of the numbers to work with in this case) the logical equation, to date is, truth + loss = confusion. I will brand the word “truth” on the inside of my right arm. Also note video on my website: dawnkasper.com Love Series #1 LOVE branding.

Items Needed:
1. the need for self: I will provide
2. destructive behavior: I get beaten: a table and chairs
3. clues to the meaning of life part 6 : for David: I will need a table, chair, PA system with a microphone, and a microphone stand.
4. things to do when you cant sleep: I need an acoustic piano, PA, a microphone and microphone stand
5. all things add up to the sum of all their parts, (5 being one of the numbers to work with in this case) the logical equation, to date is, truth + loss = confusion: I will provide

Notes:
I will need to leave all of these objects in their place after each performance for the entire duration of the exhibition. I do not need all that much room. The idea is to do these performances over the duration of the exhibition schedule. One performance a week for a month. Times and duration are subject to change.

Title Notes:
*
(“confusing really” probably making little to no sense at present) based on many notions or theories of self or self realizations, or discovering loss/grief through death and dieing or discovering things that were always there that I never knew were there, or finding life in death the question is “where do I go from here?)
