Years ago, back on the farm in Mississippi, a wetlands was just an area of pasture that was too swampy to grow hay or graze cattle. Little did I know back then that wetlands are some of the most biodiverse ecosystems on earth, and worthy of our preservation and amazement. Montanas Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge is a great example of a wetlands that is managed for the benefit of people and wildlife, with a special emphasis on migratory birds and endangered and threatened species.
