Linking Women Across Cultures & Time (by ESCRIBANA)

An intercultural exchange program by ESCRIBANA in September, 2011, involved two Haitian community radio women who traveled to Costa Rica. In addition to learning Spanish, the women of REFRAKA (Women's Community Radio Network of Haiti) developed a gender policy as part of a gender & communication course offered by ESCRIBANA. The course was based on the courage and activism of three women in history: Yvonne Hakim Rimpel (Haiti, 1906-1986), Olimpie de Gouges (France, 1748-1793), and Rosa Parks (United States, 1913-2005).
