Timetunnel of the Heart (J 2007, 30 min, DV)

A documentary about the photographer and pro skier Tadao Iwaki (1945 - 2004).

Filmmaker Roger Walch captures the beauty of rural Japan and traces the life and work of the late Tadao Iwaki. Before becoming a photographer, Iwaki was a renowned pro skier who had mastered the most difficult mountains and was featured in ski magazines all over the world.
After retiring from pro skiing, Iwaki started to take photos. His focus were the nature, landscape and wildlife of rural Aichi (Japan). For his exhibitions he often collaborated with his wife, calligrapher Yoshiko Aoyama, and chose traditional locations like old farm houses or temples in his town of residence, Shinshiro.
