Soboba is THE reason to buy a speedwing in So Cal! This site is constantly getting better, with 2 new (ie: higher) launch sites opened up in the past 3 months, & more on the way!
This is a video from last weekend 11/19/2011 at Soboba on my Swing Spitfire 11m, including a 7-minute speed-soaring flight at the top ridge 1600ft. launch (4 minutes of soaring were edited out of the video), & a few contour-carving descents. The wind was pretty direct and about 8-12 kph at the ridgetop. Not strong, but a good vertical component owing to tall height of the ridge enables soaring flight even on a small wing!
