1. The direct method
To tie in with a lecture on Norman McLaren, the students of the history of animation seminar at Florida State (HUM 2937-04) did two 10- to 16-second animated shorts, both of which were animated using the direct method. One film was made by drawing on clear 16mm film, the other by scraping away black leader on 16mm film. None of us had any experience in animation prior to this, and we were wholly experimenting with our cartoons.

The video was shot at 30 FPS. When converted and cropped for uploading to YouTube it was converted to 24 FPS, as this is the speed that the film was screened at.

Each animation is owned by its animator.
