BIP - Building Interactive Playgrounds is a festival for interaction design projects. Interactive installations, specifically conceived for events and public spaces, simple and straight-forward projects, involving exploration, irony, play and social relationships. Interaction Design applied to an electronic music festival’s environment, to entertain and intrigue a young, unrespectful and challenging audience.
Special guest project: REACTABLE
A project by “Interactive Sonic Systems” team,
Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona - SPAIN
The Reactable is a collaborative electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible multi-touch interface. Several simultaneous performers share complete control over the instrument by moving and rotating physical objects on a luminous round table surface. By moving and relating these objects, representing components of a classic modular synthesizer, users can create complex and dynamic sonic topologies, with generators, filters and modulators, in a kind of tangible modular synthesizer or graspable flow-controlled programming language. Icelandic singer Björk incorporates the Reactable, played by Mark Bell, as a key instrument of her Volta 2007 world tour.
