Love the atmosphere with the coloring and lighting. This came out really really well.

The finished product is amazing! I agree with Blake, the color correction is top notch.
  • TheDeadlyDeaths 10 months ago
Thanks Dalas. The colouring took me quite a while. My friend actually set up the colour curves for me (that give it the green effect). Then 3 or 4 days of matching the colours to finish (2 of which were spent rendering the stills over 3 computers, haha).

    great job!
and i like the drummers' shirt, have you been to that club 'gleis 22'? i love it.
  • TheDeadlyDeaths 10 months ago
Thanks. I haven't been to the club, but our drummer (Bevan) played there when his band Dead Pan Rangers toured Europe a few years ago. According to their myspace ( myspace.com/deadpanrangers ) page/blog they're playing there again on the 24th of November (with their new drummer). We would definitely like to make it over there some time though.

wow. this is like 3-D animation robots but real life. it's awesome that you not only have great ideas but you also make them happen in a reasonable amount of time.

I'm really happy to have you guys on Vimeo.

Imagine if you could sell the song directly, so when the video ended, something popped up saying, "Download the song for $1'

Would you pay us 30 cents from each dollar?
  • themarkpike 10 months ago
Or, in addition to that, imagine if they had the option to give this video a Creative Commons license, which would encourage other users to remix the clip or the audio with attribution. This could increase their exposure, resulting in a larger audience, and increased ticket sales and merchandise at their concerts.

I don't understand why Vimeo hasn't implemented a system yet where users can easily give their work products Creative Commons licenses like they can on Flickr.

  • TheDeadlyDeaths 10 months ago
Thanks Jakob. The download thing would probably be cool if we didn't already give the song away for free from our website, haha :)
  • Joe Worters 10 months ago
I think that's a wicked idea, i'd be up for it. I know a few other people that would love to be part of something like that. How would you decide who could sell on Vimeo?

Beautiful. Wondering if you used a filter on-camera to diffuse the edges, or if you did it in post with a spot-focus or something? Agree with everyone else about the colors too, really really nice and subtle.

    Thanks.

All the colouring/edge work was done in post ( as described here: thedeadlydeaths.com/blog/?id=63 ). I can't quite remember the exact filtering process, but I think it was multiple layers merged together ( one coloured, one coloured with the edges blurred and one multiplying layer/mask with dark edges ).

Deadly Deaths, nice job with the effect. It really worked for me. And loving the end of it when you are getting all your stuff off the stage. I give you a 10 for quickness. The thing about it is that it looked 3 dimensional. And the track is pretty cool. Bravo to you guys.
  • TheDeadlyDeaths 3 months ago
It was quite funny at the time. That packing up shot was the last shot we had to shoot, and we were all tired and wanted to go home as soon as possible. Usually it only takes us around 10 minutes to pack everything up.... Unfortunately it took over 30 minutes to shoot (as we had to have the camera move between every shot) - and so we had to pack up really really slowly.
