All of this footage was shot at Wyadup Rocks 10 minutes south of Yallingup in the Southwest of Western Australia. It was a beautiful evening with awesome clouds and the odd bolt of lightning.

I was shooting with my brother Christian. He was taking stills and I was shooting vid all with the Canon 5D mk 2 and various Canon lenses ranging from 24mm f/1.6 to 400mm f/5.6.

One of Christians stills features on this video. You can see more at christianfletcher.wordpress.com or christianfletcher.com.au

Music is from "Passion" by Peter Gabriel.

Yep. In the kitchen using a stick of incense. The colors were from my sons toys. It turned out pretty cool.

  • Eugenia Loli-Queru plus 9 months ago
So I am reporting a technical issue (issue that doesn't exist in your original MOV file btw, which tells me you used some unusual audio settings that Vimeo messed up upon re-encoding), and you are telling me to breathe into a paper bag? Wow.

What are you using to color grade the video?
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Color corrector three way in FCPro. Have used color but sometimes cant be bothered and 5D mk2 has great color reproduction.

Sweet, I'm not a fan of the music, but it looked really lovely, especially the waves breaking behind the raised horizon of the beach.
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Cheers Jim. The music wasn't the perfect choice but it can be hard matching a clip to sound.

Love the video and the way you blended the stills and movie footage.

The stitched panorama is beautiful. What did you or Christian use for your photo needlework? How much of each frame got included?
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Cant answer that one Andrew but if look on Christians Blog Christianfletcher.wordpress.com I think he has an explanation. If not leave hima comment and i'm sure he will let you know.

I know, it can be so difficult choosing the right track, and I'm definitely no authority. I'm about to move to Melbourne with my Aussie fiancee, so you've really whetted my appetite for getting my camera out.

Thanks Jim. You will love Australia. Victoria is a great state but where I live is better. Maybe I'm a bit biased.

That indian music is really touching the background, seems used matte box also for filters! or is that just a lens hood? what all ur location settings?
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Used Lee Filter Kit with two Grad Filters. No lens hood. Camera settings are straight from camera. There are no settings to adjust like normal video cameras. Thanks for watching.

    Hi,

Great shots as usual, how do you find the Canon 5d compared to your video camera? What do find are the minus points if there are any?
I was down south last month loved Christian's gallery's.
(liked the wide shots glossed and mounted to the aluminium)
    Cheers
    Paul
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Thanks for watching Mate. I love the 5d as it shoots 1080p but it can look a bit too much like video if you dont trick the camera to keep the depth of field in certain shots. The XHA1 with the Letus 35 looks a lot more filmic but it doesn't have the resolution. I need the new red scarlet. Now that could be pretty cool.

Glad you liked the gallery. Hope you did the right thing and put your hand in your pocket HaHa!!!!

    Thanks for the info..........
I will buy one, but which one!
    Cheers

Beautifully shot, stunning images. I must check that Canon out, currently using EX1. Aren't you getting tired responding to everyone though?
  • Michael Fletcher plus 9 months ago
Nah!!! If you are good enough to comment then its only right that I comment Back. The EX1 is a good camera. The 5d is not a proper video camera so it lacks a lot of functionality. The image reproduction is superb though. Cant wait until they put this technology into a real video camera. Thnaks for watching
