This was a sweet tale of e-love from the realms of deep cyberspace. Believe it or not, Renu answered an email that was over 6 months old from her internet dating site. As fate would have it, Vikram was calmly there on the other end to recieve it. Several months later and many many emails, this match made in cyberspace became a true reality.
The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Saratoga Mountain Winery, in Saratoga, CA. We arrived just in time for the sun rising over the coastal range in the east. As the magical light fell upon us the tents and man dap were built on the Chateau Deck overlooking the entire South Bay. There is something really special about the early morning even more special than the evening, when the suns rays first sear the earths surface.
The ceremony was a fusion of culture and two religions since Renu from Kerala, India was Christian and Vikram from Tamil Nadu was Hindu. The Hindu ceremony started out with both receiving their wedding garments from the Pundit and then going back to their changing rooms to change quickly coming back out to the ceremony where the ceremony was conducted in full under a hot sun. Shortly, after the Hindu ceremony there was an officiant who conducted the Christian ceremony for the two and they exchanged rings in front of the congregation.
Following the ceremony there were light refreshments served under the tents, including fresh young coconuts, which I thought was a unique touch. A beautiful luncheon reception was held in the top floor of the winery deck building right behind the amphitheater. South Indian cuisine was served and an Indian duet of the tablaa and sarod played on stage as everyone helped themselves to the buffet style food.
