This afternoon Sophia was out in the woods behind my parents' house on the Olympic Peninsula where we'll be house sitting for the next few weeks. She brought back this video of what appears to be a young sasquatch, but was only able to record until the memory card was full. Hopefully we'll see it again in the coming days and get some better footage.

Although posted as what is stated to be an authentic sasquatch, the poster robertogreco has come forth to say that this is his son in a costume.

He has stated that it was not intentionally posted to be "authentic" however in reading the caption as of 10/8/07 it would certainly indicate such.

Well shame on you for the caption... but kudos for coming clean so quickly on the topic and not trying to play along for a bit.

"Yes, my son is in a costume that we made and which he will be wearing for Halloween. In fact, we always try to get the kids’ costumes completed early and considering the time involved in making them we hope that they will use them more than just once for trick-or-treating." -RobertoGreco

Thanks for the comments, Luke and Sasquatchdetective.

Sasquatch Detective - I'd just like to note here that the quote from me that you posted above comes from my emails to Craig Woolheater at Cryptomundo. They can be found in full at:
    cryptomundo.com/bigfoot-report/olypen-bf-video2/

In addition to what you have selected, it is important to add this portion regarding the posting of this video:

"Our intention was not to convince anyone of an authentic sasquatch sighting or make a "blow to cryptozoology." The photo and video were posted to Flickr and Vimeo where family, friends, and people who follow our work and know what we do could see and hopefully enjoy them. Sure, it's public and anyone can see it, but if we were intentionally seeking a broader audience, we would have likely posted it to YouTube and/or contacted a site like Cryptomundo. I hope that also explains the "ho-hum" caption and lack of exclamation marks."

Based on the emails I received from friends, family, and people who follow our work, they knew exactly what was going on. Unfortunately, the video was posted to Cryptomundo before I saw the following email from Craig Woolheater:

    "Roberto,

I'm curious about your Sasquatch video. Can you share any additional information regarding the video? I noticed that you have what appears to be a Sasquatch plush, just a coincidence?

    Thanks, Craig Woolheater
    Cryptomundo"

His email, which you can see shows he was aware of the fact that my family makes plush toys, was sent to me at 7:43AM on Saturday morning and his post to Cryptomundo was made less than twenty-four hours after that at 12:01AM on Sunday. Being that it was a weekend I was not busy checking email and did not know what was going on. When I did check in, I sent my replies to him at 2:24AM and 2:46AM on Sunday. (Yes, I stay up that late most nights.) Of course, Craig was probably busy on Sunday and did not post my replies to Cryptomundo until 12:01AM on Monday. I assume he posted them as soon as he saw them.

(The email times above are PST. I am not sure, but I think the Cryptomundo post times are EST.)

I hope that clears things up a bit.

I'd also like to point out that while the toy is much more clearly not real, you can see that I have a history of making "serious" captions under my videos. See this one:

Unfortunately we didn't have anywhere to link to for the full sasquatch project because it is not yet finished. We will eventually.
