Okay, so the mystery of the mystery movement has been solved. I thought I was only repelling other objects of the same generation but it turns out every object was repelling every other object. Because of the lack of infinite accuracy with floats, eventually a kink would form in the strand of children and that was enough to send the whole system into a seizing fit. Its still awesome though. I should capitalize on this discovery!
