This is an exercise that was part of our documentary film education at my film school. We had 30 meters of 16mm film and were supposed to produce a very short documentary film that was trying to "describe the time".

When I found this old photo booth I realized that I wanted to do something about the time you have to wait until you receive your developped pictures.

The people you hear soundwise were found in the streets not far from where we shot. The photo booth was located in Berlin at Rosenthaler Platz, but it has moved since then. It was the first one that two young guys had put in the streets. Today there are quite a plenty all over Berlin and other cities. To find out more, see their website: photoautomat.de

Director: Andreas Scheffer, Cinematography: Jakob Seemann, Editing: Wiebke Grundler, Sound and sound-mix: Karolin Killig.

A production of the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen "Konrad Wolf", Potsdam-Babelsberg, 2004.
