Iris Priest is an artist and writer based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, she is also Co-Editor of the arts magazine CANNED.

In her own words, Iris Priest’s practice explores art as a channel for discovery, as a new means of communication via a cross-pollination of ideas. Taking many forms, from drawing to performance, her work is often highly crafted and laborious. She draws deliberate parallels to the arts & crafts movement and elevates the banality of images and materials from everyday life.

In 2011 she created a print titled In That Beyond with Hole Editions, Newcastle, the principal subject of the film.

Since 2008, she has held six solo exhibitions in the North of England, most recently at the Vault Gallery, Lancaster [2010], as well as participated in multiple art fairs and group exhibitions across the UK.

Iris Priest has also contributed research and writings to the emergent group of artists associated with the Chance Finds Us project,
