For ZaZa's 'Who's There', director Jeff P. Elstone II took inspiration from the story of L'Inconnue de la Seine (the unknown woman of the Seine) in which the body of a young woman was pulled from the Seine River in the late 1880s. The pathologist was so taken by her beauty that he captured it in a plaster death mask, which later became a fashionable yet morbid fixture in Parisian Bohemian society. Additionally, the video makes reference to turn of the century occult practices, in which electrical devices were incorporated into seances as visual evidence of whether or not a spirit was present. Hands are joined and pass through a fluorescent gateway in effort to cross the threshold into the ether.
