Lou Nemeth, who photographed the liberation of Buchenwald to the legends of Broadway, passed away this week. In a September 2010 conversation in the New York Times lobby, he tells about making an iconic image of Louis Armstrong and Mitch Miller and the progression from Speed Graphic to pocket digital cameras like the one that caught this moment (Ricoh CX-1, the first CMOS compact).
