Based in the belief that the accelerated pace of modern life has people looking for genuine community more than ever before, Milkshake Media, a strategic branding and creative agency based in Austin, Texas, specializes in building brands to build community. Katherine Jones and Randall Macon, both of Milkshake, will discuss the difference between traditional branding and community-building branding. The duo will also introduce Milkshake’s community framework model, which is the basis for brand strategy and expression work, including two case studies. In the first, they will walk through the “perfect storm” of creating LIVESTRONG, a brand and resource Milkshake developed and launched for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Katherine and Randall will then explore their experiences re-launching the Blanton Museum of Art, which was recently profiled in STEP magazine for Milkshake’s non-traditional work reintroducing this pillar of the Austin community.
