This is a series of videos covering the theory and mathematics of the rates of reaction. The academic level is first year college chemistry with a focus on the objectives of an AP and IB curriculum. The first video introduces/reviews collision theory. At the advice of Lisa McGaw (AP teacher, reader, workshop presenter, and works with Laying the Foundations among many accomplishments) I am starting with mechanisms instead of ending with mechanism. I find that this approach helps make conceptual sense of reactions orders much earlier in the conversation. Both differential and integrated rate law expression will be explored, but calculus is not included in the discussion.
