The “Pass Down” is an interactive installation developed for 2009 HAKKA EXPO in Taiwan that introduces prominent Hakkanese to the audience. The “Pass Down” means to invoke the passing down of the Hakka spirits to the descendents. To embodied such cultural meaning into interaction behaviors, we design virtual firing spot that project onto user's hands and use the camera tracking techniques to let the firing spot follow user’s hands. The users are encouraged to “take” the virtual firing spot to the virtual candleholder, and this will evoke the textual introduction for different prominent Hakkanese.
