Is there an x64 version yet? I played with HaikuOS briefly over a year ago. I have an extra 500gb drive here, and would install it in my main machine if there were a version compatible with my AMD64 CPU.

Currently, Haiku is limited to i386 architecture only. However, don't let that dissuade you from giving Haiku a spin. The OS now supports PAE or "Physical Address Extension" allowing you to take advantage of installed memory up to 64 GB. The only obvious limitation is that each process is limited to 3 GB a piece. Though, considering that apps currently available for Haiku are quite memory efficient, I wouldn't expect you to run up against this limitation. Hope this helps!

Good video Matt, although I might have toned down the rhetoric a little in places ("genius coders" and "easiest OS to install" are probably a bit of a stretch, although I'm sure the coders are very bright and the installation process is on a par with Ubuntu although the partitioning requires a little understanding).

I was very impressed with the threading feedback which wasn't there last time I had a play, and the speed of installation (lack of bloat!) as well. The multitasking was a little reminiscent of the infamous impressive BeOS multitasking demo back when most OSes spluttered playing your average MP3 back in 1999.

Thanks for the comments. I may have sold it a bit more like a salesperson... but hey you live you learn. I'll get down the proper way to preach. ;)

Oh, I meant to add to the initial comment that the video is well made, and that it made me think of the old BeOS demo is a compliment!

In terms of advocating Haiku, there's plenty there without pushing the truthiness barrier :-) such as, I'm certain that's the fastest installation out there for a modern graphical OS. The Windowing features are excellent, the responsiveness of the GUI, etc.

Anyway, good job! Hope you get the time to do another video.

Absolutely! I do appreciate all that... and the like on the video as well. :D

Fair enough. I mean I wasn't really lying when I was pushing the part of how fast it is to install Haiku. But yes I do see your point.

Thank you very much! I look forward to working more with this video work. :D
