On December 5, 2011, over 50 members of the Pablo Casals School (3501 W Potomac) community visited Alderman Roberto Maldonado’s ward night as part of its campaign to stop the “turnaround” of their school. “Turnaround” is a CPS policy where everyone working in a school building is fired and replaced with a new staff. The Casals group decided to turn what they hoped to be a discussion with the alderman to a picket outside his Humboldt Park office. A representative from the Alderman’s office later told the group that he would meet with them on Wednesday, December 7th.
