In November 2011, Solent's Student Union hosted a Battle of the Bands competition for students to win a chance to play at the Grad Ball in Southampton Guildhall later in the month. Three bands were chosen through a mixture of a crowd vote and judges panel to make it through to a final show, where they were chosen by the audience to play in the Guildhall. Skymarshal were the successful act that later played the Grad Ball.
