  • i live in Vancouver Canada but visit the Tahoe area yearly. It's a beautiful area.

I used the Nikon D7000. Next time I plan to invest in a better lens for the low light stuff (24/1.4) Expensive, but ideal for low light.

Hi there....you're in Vancouver? Any suggestions on some cool time lapse locations in or around the city? I'm here on an IT implementation by the airport, so I've got some time on weekends to put my camera to use. Cheers, Mike

Amazing peice, only been to Tahoe once but I'm dying to go again after this.
One question: Is the tilt shirf real or fake? (looks real)
  • tilt shift is actually fake... but i tried to make it subtle so it was more realistic :)
  • Alex Cribbs 2 months ago
Well it looks class A, well done!
  • theDMACprogram 1 month ago
Any chance you could expand on that tilt shift effect?
  • I created the tilt shift using the Graduated Filter effect in Adobe Lightroom. I only had to get it right on one photo and then apply the effect to all the other photos. I was able to get the exact effect I was after using Lightroom.

That is stunning. The images looked composed -- as if sky, clouds, city, water, rocks -- were each filmed separately and composited together.

Very nice work....makes me want to move there.
Were you using a true tilt-shift lens on the skiers or was that just skewed focus thing?
    Thanks for sharing this!

The Lake was a big part of my life, for decades. This almost brings tears to my eyes. I love the shot/pan of Emerald Bay. I am going to send this out as my Christmas card. Thank you.

I live is Western WA now. You should come down and do something on Deception pass.
  • It's such a beautiful place. I tried to capture not only the beauty of place but also the way it makes me feel when I'm there. The biggest compliment is knowing that you lived there and got something out of my work. Thanks for the feedback.

wow. major props! For a 2 1/2 min video Im guessing you shot anywhere around 3-5 hours?
  • thanks! actually it took a whole week of filming haha.
some of the footage i didnt use. and the nighttime footage required long exposure time so it took over 3 hrs for just 10 seconds of footage.
  • Adotphoto 1 month ago
wow! I was way off! lol. Once again, major props to you and the patience that was taken while making this. It all paid off for sure though! I've never been to tahoe(although I frequently visit SF/Oak) But I def want to make a trip now thanks to this film.
