Looks awesome...what did you use to color and how did you achieve this grade?
  • Jimandtonic plus 2 months ago
Graded in Premiere with Magic looks. just playing around until I was happy. I was aiming for a hazy flat look, adding a little bit of blue into the shadows, and a pinkish tint. Both cameras were set to the their standard off the shelf profiles.

For me, it was Gizmodo.com. I'm an engineering student, and a large portion of the people I know are Gizmodo readers. Not that it'll bring much attention to the video, but I'm also sharing it on Facebook and Google+ as of moments ago.

its a trilogy! no actually the kite in this video is one of three kites which are now part of an installation at castle quay in jersey. there are two large kites( like the one in the video) and a smaller kite. we filmed the smaller kite flying, but it didnt make th final cut. i will post a link to photos of them all together soon.

Ah-ha! That makes a lot more sense. :)

Really cool, guys. It's sweet to see 3D printing used in the real world.

i don't get it. i mean it looks nice and all. But it seems as the idea failed! Was the objective to get the cube to fly higher?
  • Jimandtonic plus 1 month ago
It did fly, maybe not for long or that high, but that's no "fail" :)
  • francisco canton 1 month ago
i know it did but what i was trying to say is that it looked kinda like a "making of" of the flying cube. Still, very nice grading adn shots

props to the one who chose the musical track. the video would look totally different without that Squarepusher psyche through-out.

Congrats for the art and for the cinematography! I like it very much.
To the guys who are re-blogging it: you may want to provide additional information over this project by saying something about the original concept (conceived almost 100 years ago, could you imagine it? :D) alieze.com/fourth/images/timeline_1900s.jpg
As the authors themselves say, their project is derived from the Bells Tetrahedral kites.

    Love it.

I'm interested in the Canon TS-E lens. Can you tell me which shots this was used on and what difference it made? Thanks!
  • Jimandtonic plus 3 weeks ago
The tilt shift lens was used on a couple of the top down shoots around 0:45. to be honest the full effect of the lens isn't really used on these shots. Read up on tilt shift lenses :)
