6. NIN Sydney 2.24.09 - Mid-show Power Outage [HD]
Power in the Hordern Pavilion went out midway through the set, forcing the show to stop for 40 minutes and nearly causing it to be canceled.

Filmed by Rob Sheridan with the Canon 5D Mark II.

The quality of this footage is stunning! The Canon 5D MII is quite impressive.

P.S. Way to turn it around.
  • dcDixon 2 years ago
Maybe I missed where you started talking about this, but out of curiosity how do you know they used that camera? Cause the footage is amazing and when I googled that camera it doesn't seem like your typical camera used for video capture.

He twittered (tweeted?) about it: twitter.com/rob_sheridan

It's a shame it took an incident like this to get some interesting backstage footage. Hopefully they'll make more of a habit of this, power outages or not.
  • Carrie Shetler 2 years ago
    i agree! more backstage!

Love that Trent treats his fans like guests that deserve a proper show.
  • me. 2 years ago
i totally agree with this comment. you can tell he's really genuinely concerned, and almost a little embarrassed. like he let them down or something. but exactly as you say, like disappointed guests.

You know, this would make a great segment on a DVD of this year's tour.

    Just sayin'...
  • James Reed 2 years ago
    So would you
  • Torgo 2 years ago
    Yeah - you're creepy.

    Plus, Ro is mine. :D
  • neroli 2 years ago
Pleeeease there's more than enough of me to go around!

(I'd be better as a hidden easter egg, to be honest; make people work for it)
  •
  • acidpolly 2 years ago
thank you Rob! I was wondering what was going on backstage during the whole power off thing.
could you please make it available for download?

So you're not going to play for "one minute less" but then you don't play the 4 songs encore?

(Not that I blame you, everyone was hot/tired by that point, just sayin'...sucks to not hear Dead Souls since it looks like it might be your last Sydney show if not forever then for a while...)

The power goes out - The Sheridan kicks in. Way to go! Huge gratitude from far, far away: thank you for the transportation :)

I get the feeling that they thought the crowd would go crazy and riot. Completely the opposite. I think everyone was very cool about it.

The saddest thing is that after Head Like a Hole, the lights came straight on and we missed the encore (The Beginning of the End, Suck, Dead Souls and Hurt), most probably because of the curfew at Hordern.

It was a great show. Thanks for coming to see us in Sydney.

You always have to plan for the worst case scenario in those types of situations, then hope for the best.

It was too hot in there to lynch anyone.

Great footage-great to know what was going on backstage when all of us in the crowd were coolly sweating it out just wanting more of the best. It was a great show-huge thanks to NIN for keeping on keeping on!

Oh yeah, this is GREAT footage, apart from the awesome quality, it's also cool to see the whole 'behind the scenes' scenario. Plus it reminds me of how awesome the show in Auckland was last week...

I was at the Brisbane show and it was great. The weather was so hot so good on ya Trent for getting up there under all those lights..Cheers

So glad this was posted. I was there in the second row (and can see myself...just). Have just arrived back home in Melbourne now, after the show tonight. God it was hot in the pit and I was seriously contemplating getting out after about 30mins of lights out - started feeling sick...not good. Luckily I held on and it started up again and revived me. The security was really good too, giving out lots of water.
Trent said that he thought the crowd was pissed off, but I don't think that is the case. We were all (or mostly all) hanging in there and it was a unique NIN experience. We all started amusing ourselves by singing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, and the We Will Rock You, and then a few failing attempts (one of which you can hear in the clip - "99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer..."
Overall a very excellent show...wouldn't have missed it for the world. I've heard some people moan about no encore, but it was still a hell of a songlist and I am more than satisfied

This happened back in 94-95 in pensacola FL on the self destruct tour with Prick and Jim Rose circus..
Only they didnt get it fixed,, the show was canceled,, Trent was pissed,, and kinda drunk when he told us the fuck heads couldnt fix the problem..

Wow! All I have to say is, "what a pro"!

It is difficult to become re-energized after some unexpected down time. NIN puts on another fantastic show!

I want there to be a whole live DVD of one-man footage like this. Puts you with the chaos happening on-stage instead of in the audience. Amazing job, dude.
