Seeing how far I can take underlighting while still producing a recognizable image. Gordon Willis school of lighting.

For the first set of stuff i really liked it when you turned your face into the light so it was half lit, half dimly lit. When turned away from the light you looked too strongly backlit. The conclusion i suppose is that you need SOME key on the face, otherwise the backlight produces too much shadow contrast on the face. Good little demo tho, thanks.

I really like the style here - my only issue, and it may be to do with the compression on Vimeo - there is a slightly blue cast to the blacks that I'm not sure about. The overall quality and shape of the light I'm really into.

You are right Jonathan. The blueness has to do with the pixel count on the compression. If the color is true black then you would not have that blueish tint. But if the black isn't 100% black but with a slight white, blue or purple tint over it you get the blue casts to the blacks.
Try uploading a completely black video and see what happens, sort of a test video.
