Nightshift was made for the September 2011 edition of Honolulu's own mini film festival dash the Showdown in Chinatown (SIC). This is a director's cut. The sound has been mixed and scoring added.
This is also the first film I've had a solo director's credit. There were many challenges for us on this project, shot entirely in one day with a crew of three. The actors had only received the script the day of with no rehearsal and many times the car was moving and I would ride in a support vehicle, essentially directing blindfolded with my fingers crossed.
Sound was also blind and challenging and even this final mix still has some mistakes but i learned a lot which is definitely in the spirit of SIC. I had fun and didn't sleep till the sun began to rise the next day as i walked home from the taxi company i rented the car from.
Many thanks to all that supported this project, my crew, Mikey Inouye from Banzai media for equipment, Danny Randerson, little Emma Mosher, a true sport; my crew of two: Jimmy Craine and Evan Loney; the rest of my crew, and the community of filmmakers here in Honolulu for always sharing their passion, knowledge and experience with me.
