Tigers Scalp Glastonbury Tomahawks
The Tigers growled to their first win of the season, as they beat the visiting Glastonbury Tomahawks 5-2 at the Winter Garden
Corey Dunn opened the scoring in the first period with his first goal of the year with an assist from Sean Wilkinson. Wilkinson then scored the next two goals to put the Tigers up 3-1. Sophomore Cam McGuire's first career Tiger goal followed Wilkinson's second goal by 12 seconds in the third period. Johnny Richards scored the season's first short-handed goal to make the final 5-2.
Consistent with the Holiday season, Wilkinson was in a "giving" mood as he assisted in the three goals he did not tally as his own. There was some "grinch-type" goaltending by Nate Gliedman, stopping 26 shots from the Tomahawks. The Tomahawks offense was stifled by very good Tiger defense from Brendan Bossidy, Danny McMullan, Jamie Kelly, and Henry Gough.
The Tigers travel to the Maine High School Invitational tournament to play their next two games against two Maine powerhouses over the Holiday Break before returning to the Garden on Saturday January 7, 2012 to play state playoff contender Xavier.
